Insecurity

Within these walls I feel safe

From their stares and their glares to all that I compare

It’s a quiet spot from where I can dream

It hasn’t always been this way

And in my heart I sense an ache for sight of the foreign landscape

Their smiles and comforts and strength

Within these walls I am captive

To disparity, singularity, and creativity

I am a stranger to myself and the world around me

  1. Poignant. Was just talking about this earlier in the week - how the walls we build to protect ourselves eventually become oppressive.
